Before we give you an absolute answer, these are seven qualities to look for in a good web hosting. An excellent hosting:

Hostgator Complaints
No web hosting service is perfect. Some complaints about Hostgator plans include:
- No free domain name included – but you can easily get a domain name from the best domain registrar such as Godaddy or Namecheap for $10 or less. Would you agree that a website is not complete without a domain name?
- You need to pay full price after your first invoice – well, they need to make money too and all the support and great service do come with a cost. It is like they say, you get what you pay for.

GoDaddy is pretty reasonable.

Microsoft Office Live is inexpensive and easy setup…$14.95 a year included domain name, email addresses and hosting…at work we use Lunar Pages and I’ve been very pleased with pricing (for what we need) and customer service…it runs (i believe) about $75 a year.

It depends on what you need – shared hosting (hostgator), VPS or Dedicated (hetzner) hosting – all are different as in prices as in performances. Godaddy is the slowest IMHO.

Well, definitely not GoDaddy – I wouldn’t recommend their hosting to anyone… Over the past year, GoDaddy has had numerous break-ins on their hosting servers by malicious hackers – causing great loss of data, downtime, search engine ranking, etc. Oddly, each time they’ve usually blamed their customers for this. Also, they are known for overselling their servers – typically with thousands of sites put on each machine – so your site could be rated as slow…
You’d have a much better experience with known and trusted providers like HostGator (in the U.S. with over 5M domains hosted) or 1&1 (in Europe and UK). They offer inexpensive hosting plans with unlimited bandwidth, but much better historical customer service and support. Both also provide low cost domain registration, email accounts, and easy-to-use site builders.
Hope this helps!
