A frequently-asked query:
I know what a domain name is
But what is web hosting? What exactly would I be paying for for webhosting?Do you know any good affordable webhosters out there.
Answer: You are not alone. Many affordable hosting is plagued with inflexibility on their resource limits and haunted by unprofessional support. Web hosting is the heart of your web presence and can mean the start or the end of your business.
Before we give you an absolute answer, these are seven qualities to look for in a good web hosting. An excellent hosting:
- does not suspend accounts easily like other cheap hosting,
- gives more-than-enough storage,
- offers unlimited bandwidth,
- gives unlimited add-on domains,
- has easy-to-use Site Builder with thousands of unique templates,
- has QuickInstall to quickly install apps like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, OSCommerce, ZenCart and more
- can be easily upgraded to VPS or one of the best dedicated server plans if and when your business require.
To answer your question, many experienced web developers suggest to try Hostgator. If you need an “unlimited” hosting plan, experts usually highly recommend going with Hostgator because they are the best best domain hosting around.

Hostgator Complaints
No web hosting service is perfect. Some complaints about Hostgator plans include:
- No free domain name included – but you can easily get a domain name from the best domain registrar such as Godaddy or Namecheap for $10 or less. Would you agree that a website is not complete without a domain name?
- You need to pay full price after your first invoice – well, they need to make money too and all the support and great service do come with a cost. It is like they say, you get what you pay for.
If you are still not sure if HG is right for you, or you have specific query about anything at all, try the Live Chat at HG. They are fast and knowledgeable. Just ask and you shall receive.

Webhosting is using (renting) space on a company’s server to run your website. Your personal pc does NOT have the muscle you need to run a website with heavy traffic, it would literally melt.
I use HostGator at the link below. It’s toatlly, completely secure and they have a 1-800 number for support that you can call 24 hours a day.
Check out the Site Builder demo at the bottom of the page also…they practically built the site for you. You don’t have to have a degree in website building to make a great site here.
Just look around, check the site out, I guarantee you’ll like it.

rossmart34’s answer is good but the computer used to host a single website is just a regualr PC that’s on 24 hours a day. It wouldn’t melt unless your as popular as youtube, myspace, or facebook. You can host your own site for free and just buy a domain name but hosting yourself can be a hassle sometimes.

Okay that’s a serious ad for hostgator. Web hosting, effectively, requires dedicated servers that run 24/7, preferably lots of them, and security to keep your stuff from being hacked into. It also means if thousands of people want to visit at one time they can; that probably won’t happen but you never know. If you’re making enough money from the website that it becomes your day job, that probably is what’s happening.
That’s the difference between hosting your own website and letting someone else host it for you. When someone else does it, you’re paying them to do so at prices you can afford that are fixed. When you’re doing it yourself, your traffic will inevitably be limited to what you can afford on your limited budget. Do you really want to either learn how to be a systems admin if you can just let some other company handle that mess? Exactly.
The internet is free, unless of course there’s money involved in it, so go figure. But that’s the difference between web hosting, you can go anywhere, like Yahoo! Business, GoDaddy, etc. Everyone is hosting these days, chances are if you can register a domain name with them they’re hosting.
