A frequently-asked question:
I need to start up a website for a friend who’s opening a daycare center. I’m leaning toward shared hosting, but can go the VPS route if I get about 750 GB of bandwidth, 70GB of space, and something affordable. But otherwise, shared hosting. I need a plan with Canadian servers, 100% uptime, plenty of bandwith, and a decent amount of storage space. maybe 20GB. I will also take your experiences with your shared hosting and VPS providers into consideration. I’m probably going to register the domain @ GoDaddy, so please don’t recommend them. I hear their hosting is quite bad. So can you recommend a shared hosting plan simliar to what I need, or do I need a VPS?
Answer: It is not your fault you are confused. Finding a web host should not be so complicated. Web hosting is one of the most important part of your business and can mean the life or death to your business.
Before we answer your question, let us review the 7 qualities to look for in a good web hosting. An excellent hosting:
- has friendly Live Chat to help you with your query,
- gives unlimited webspace,
- offers unlimited bandwidth,
- gives unlimited add-on domains,
- has friendly Site Builder with thousands of unique templates,
- has QuickInstall to quickly install apps like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, OSCommerce, ZenCart and more
- can be easily upgraded to VPS or one of the best dedicated server plans if and when your business require.

Hostgator Complaints
No web hosting service is perfect. Some complaints about Hostgator plans include:
- No free domain name included – but you can easily get a domain name from the best domain registrar such as Godaddy or Namecheap for $10 or less. Would you agree that a website is not complete without a domain name?
- You need to pay full price after your first invoice – well, they need to make money too and all the support and great service do come with a cost. It is like they say, you get what you pay for.
If you are still not sure if HG is right for you, or you have specific query about anything at all, try the Live Chat at HG. They are fast and knowledgeable. Just ask and you shall receive.

I would go with hosting24.com. They offer unlimited bandwidth. you can use coupon codes silverhost4life or goldhost4life for $2 off every month. I spend about $8 a month for unlimited storage and unlimited bandwidth. My arcade site alone uses about 6gb a month, and 50gb of storage. They also offer a domain for life. I have a domain with godaddy, and with hosting24.
You can create unlimited subdomains, addon domains, emails for each domain. And has an uptime of 99%, pretty much only downtime is server maintenance.

Hello,
If you are just starting a website, I think you will hardly touch few GBs of Disk and Bandwidth in the first one year time period. So why waste money in investing in VPS or very expensive hosting plans. Godaddy’s domains are good but their hosting creates problems some times. I would suggest you to go for a medium size web hosting company. I have wordpress blog which I have been running from almost 1.5 year and its receiving 2000+ visitors daily, and its not consuming even 20GB of bandwidth monthly.
So you should go for a company which is providing good quality hosting with affordable price.
Good luck

You almost certainly don’t need VPS hosting – shared hosting should be fine for what you are looking to do.
1. For hosting I would go with a safe bet of either iPage or Bluehost – you can compare them here: http://www.webhostingweaver.com/compare/hostgator-vs-ipage
2. Unless you can program you will also need software to develop the website. I would recommend using WordPress and getting a wordpress theme from http://themeforest.net/. You can the customize the theme to look how you want (they have some themes oriented toward daycare/youthful type design)
I would expect to pay $4-$7/mo for web hosting and $40 for a wordpress theme (unless you want to use a free one). Bluehost and iPage both offer a really simple way to install wordpress so it should not be too tricky to setup.
