A frequently-asked problem:
Ok, so my sisters and I want to have a website. BUT which webhost is the best?
are there any really good cheap ones or free ones?
thanks a bunch! (;
Answer: It is not your fault you are confused. Finding a web host should not be so complicated. Web hosting is the heart of your web presence and can mean the life or death to your business.
Before we answer your question, let us review the 7 qualities to look for in a good web hosting. An excellent hosting:
- has excellent support and rated at least A+ by Better Business Bureau (BBB),
- gives unlimited storage,
- offers unlimited bandwidth,
- gives multiple add-on domains,
- has friendly Site Builder with thousands of unique templates,
- has QuickInstall to quickly install apps like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, OSCommerce, ZenCart and more
- can be easily upgraded to VPS or one of the best dedicated server plans if and when your business require.
To answer your question, more than 80% of experienced Webmasters recommend to try Hostgator. If you are building your first website and needs a hosting plan, experts usually highly recommend going with Hostgator because they are the best hosting and domain registrar around.

Hostgator Complaints
No web hosting service is perfect. Some complaints about Hostgator plans include:
- No free domain name included – but you can easily get a domain name from the best domain registrar such as Godaddy or Namecheap for $10 or less. Would you agree that a website is not complete without a domain name?
- You need to pay full price after your first invoice – well, they need to make money too and all the support and great service do come with a cost. It is like they say, you get what you pay for.

you can get free but it will be slow loading. godaddy is trustful and affordable with good features, i think they even have a website builder.

Yes, there are indeed a lot.
I use Modhost.com. It’s easy, secure, and affordable (40$/year). Sure, there are cheaper ones, but not that many. And I’ve used their support once or twice and they really answer.
Good luck!

Godaddy is a good place for domain names, but I would avoid their hosting. They have a crappy control panel, slow servers, and a slow service response time. They do offer free hosting with a domain name, but they put ads on the site that sometimes contain malware.
I use Made2Own for my hosting. I’ve found them to be one of the best and reliable hosts that I’ve ever used. They have good prices too.

I second GoDaddy. Fast, reasonable, great uptime and great support. I’ve been with them for years and have no complaint.
(Slow service time? I’ve had to wait 2 minutes or so, but I wouldn’t call that slow.)

Freeservers.com is afree site.
They must be half way good.
i thought I had canceled my account, as I was paying for a non ads version. well..after over 400 weeks it’s still there but with ads! so i decided to get back into it! Since I didn’t delete the whole thing, and haven’t done anything on it for all this time, it is still going!
They have free web sites available.
