A frequently-asked query:
I don’t even know where to begin, I currently have one hosted by Vistaprint, but it’s so basic, would love to have it be more interactive and professional looking. Could hire a developer, but don’t want to spend a ton. Any suggestions on where/how to do this?
Thank you everyone! All of your suggestions are very helpful! π

Learn HTML, CSS, and Javascript, then design it yourself instead of relying on website-generator type things.

I design fairly inexpensive websites (for around $30 – $40). I do suggest if you go down the paying a developer route use http://freelancer.com to contract a developer. Freelancer uses a safe payment system to assure that no one is scammed. You could also consider buying a template from multiple sites (just google ‘website templates’) and you’ll get a mix of free and charged ones. I do not suggest using site builders; i have used them before and they have their shortcomings.

try this
http://api.freehostingnoads.net/redir/162241
everything for free.. I am also using check out http://www.mindatwork.co.cc
it has everything.. u can upload your website or create with site builder.
it free no adds and everything like ip blocker, file manager, ftp , sql database, php scripts, installation of your own bullitin board, wordpress Blog… everything i can’t explain π
hope you understand,, it will be helpful for future use also… 10 gb bandwidth and 2 gb upload,
i don’t think anyone offer this…
remember while sign-up once/twice they will try to make you click on ads (showing free hosting) so that they earn something but don’t do that just scroll down whole page and click at right place(button)…..
if you don’t like you may use yola.com, 000webhost.com etc.. there are a lots of..
you will never need to spend a single penny if you have knowledge and time o read reviews at good sites… but i would say choose freehosting (mentioned above)..
gud luck π

To have a "professional looking website", you need… professionals: one graphist, one coder and, possibly, one marketing adviser (if you sell something)
This costs money.
Websites developed "on the cheap" NEVER WORK. (That is, never become successful with plenty of visitors or sales).
AND, without external advertising, a site never becomes successful either. And this advertising will cost at least 10 times more than building the site.
If you can’t afford to advertise it, then you are wasting your money developing it: it will go to oblivion in a year or two. (The case for a good 70% of sites)
The earlier people will understand this, the more chances we have to have less rubbish on the net.

If you want a truly professional looking website, you’re going to have to learn programming languages. Some of the more popular languages to get your site up and running would be HTML, PHP, Java, CSS, and there are plenty more. I would recommend finding someone to do it for you for cheap though freelancer, or find a very flexible sitebuilder tool. I would recommend using HostGator as your webhost and using the livesite plug-in. With this tool, you can have stores, profiles for your users, forums, blogs, calendars, photos, and probably anything else you would need. I’m not sure how far into this you are, but if you need anymore help, here’s an article that explains getting started in more detail.

You can hire a remote developer charged lower cost but offer better services. "Agents Of Value" has run the service of IT staff hiring for over 6 years in Philippines. You can tell the developer what web application you need, then he will program it by your request.
