I’ve had great luck with A2Hosting – by far. However, if you’re not well versed in web design and development, GoDaddy is probably the easiest provider to get started with.
A seemingly nice site for hosting provider reviews is via Web Hosting Geeks, so you can do a little independent research. A great article to help you pick a provider can be read at Smashing Magazine (http://www.smashingmagazine.com/2009/03/29/9-steps-to-a-happy-relationship-with-your-hosting-provider/).
One thing I can say, categorically, DO NOT use 1&1 Hosting…some of the worst down-time rates and stupid-bad support.

Unless you already have a domain you will need to pay for that also. I would recommend either Hostgator or Godaddy. Godaddy domain registration is about $6 and hosting about $2.50 a month for 12 months. Hostgator average about the same.
Word Press blogs are free for both domain name and hosting and some very good travel themes are available for free.

A .com domain is about $13 a year, and you can get web hosting (100mb disk space and 10gb bandwidth a month) for about $3 a month, but I doubt you’ll need better then that for now. However, it doesn’t cost too much for higher specs.
About 7.5¢ for +50mb disk space and about 2.5¢ for +1gb of bandwidth a month.
It’s also extremely reliable and has 24/7 live support, it uses the Direct Admin panel (includes email and everything) and I’ve been using it for the past few months with limited distastes.
Another thing I like about it is it’s terms of service. Most hosters (even really expensive ones) say you can’t do a lot of things like create emailers, host proxys, host a public uploading site, etcetera. All ServerFFS asks you for is basically not to break any laws.

I recommend one of these: http://www.tophostingpicks.com
iPage has the best offer right now.
Their standard price is $84/year ($6.95) but they have
a 50% sale, one year of hosting for $42.00.
Their plan includes:
Unlimited disk space
Unlimited bandwidth
Free domain name
Price: $42/year ($3.50)
They have one of the most popular hosting platforms, which currently hosts over a million websites. They’re also one of the oldest hosting companies, founded in 1998.
They include a free point & click online site builder so you can create a website without any programming (easily, just by drag and drop) or you could install WordPress (they include easy, one click install from their control panel), choose a theme that you like, and start adding content.
They also have a great custom control panel with OneClick installs of all the popular software like WordPress, Joomla, Forums, Chat, Galleries, Online stores and a lot more.

I did research before I settled down for FatCow. I found their services quite reliable. You can try their services, too. They do offer certain promotions on their web hosting plans. http://www.webhostingbreak.com/fat-cow-coupon/
